The Duxbury Art Association is dedicated to providing South Shore residents access to quality art education, exhibits, and events. From mixed medium children classes to renowned visiting artist workshops, the Duxbury Art Association strives to support the Artist in Everyone.

A growing area of interest that we have not been able to offer educational courses in is photography, digital imagery and design.   Many of our artists, students and patrons have expressed an interest in the growing medium of digital photography and imaging and we are pleased to announce our plans to create the DAA Digital Lab.

This new lab will allow us to offer classes and workshops in all aspects of digital photography, design, animation and web design.   Not only will the lab introduce students to the concepts of photography using digital cameras, it will also offer the unique crossover benefits of digital technology which can be used to enhance many of the more traditional fine arts mediums of painting, printmaking and 3D arts. Digital technology can enable the traditional artists to:

•        archive their work for web storage and marketing
•        create new works through manipulation of their work using digital techniques
•        develop on-line galleries to sell their work and more.

The digital lab will be located in the Todd Art Studio in the Ellison Center for the Arts. The lab will include 6 digital workstations, a standard and large bed scanner, 10 digital cameras, color printers, and a projector for class instruction.

Our course offering will target students of all ages and ability and will include:
•        Digital photography classes & workshops
•        Digital imagery classes & workshops
•        Animation classes & workshops
•        Mixed Media workshops
•        Altered Art workshops

We have formed an advisory committee of local artists to help develop a comprehensive course offering and ensure that the DAA digital lab is set up to deliver a high quality educational experience.

Advisory Committee:
•David Grossman – award winning photographer
•Cynthia Vallino - award winning photographer, gallery owner & digital photography instructor
•Lynne Shackleton Ford - award winning  photographer and designer
•Kathy Dixon – award winning digital photographer, artist &  gallery committee member
•Anne Henning – award winning photographer, author, gallery owner and past DAA board member.

Help the DAA go Digital
In support of the Digital Lab, the DAA has been offered a generous matching grant of $25,000. To qualify for the grant we must demonstrate the need and support for this new offering by achieving a fundraising goal of $50,000. With your help and the matching grant, we will be able to create and support a state of the art digital lab and course offering for all ages and abilities. We invite you to be part of the DAA Digital evolution and help make the DAA digital lab a reality.
