How to Participate?

1. Purchase a blank skateboard deck.
Blank decks can be purchased beginning May 1st for $20.00 at:
    -Luminate Surf & Skate - 1871 Ocean St. Marshfield, MA
    -The Duxbury Art Association - 64 Saint George St. Duxbury, MA

2. Paint & decorate your skateboard deck. We encourage you to be creative, but please keep in mind that we can not accept any artwork containing explicit imagery.

3. Register your artwork by Thursday August 12th at 4pm. You can register as early as Monday, July 26th at 10am at The Ellison Center for the Arts: 64 Saint George St. Duxbury, MA.  There’s a $10 registration fee per piece.

4. Come to the Skateboard Art Challenge Opening Event!
Thursday, August 19 from 6pm – 8pm….light refreshments will be served. The event is free & open to all…groms and grown ups included….
Your skateboard will be exhibited in the Duxbury Art Association’s gallery, play games for prizes and giveaways, visit the booths of local skate shops, and see who won* this years Skateboard Art Challenge.

*Winner will be announced at the opening. The selected winner’s artwork will be printed on the Luminate 2010 fall shop deck and the winner will receive their very own Luminate 2010 shop deck featuring their art!
 

New this Year: Bern’s Helmet Design Contest. Decorate a Bern helmet (donated by Bern Unlimited) and submit with your skateboard deck! Pick up your blank helmet at the DAA.

Monday, July 26th 10am – Skateboard artwork registration begins during regular office hours at the Duxbury Art Association, The Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street, Duxbury, MA

Wednesday August 4th from 4-6pm (Rain Date: Thursday August 5th from 4-6pm) Skateboard Painting Workshop at the DAA: Come paint your skateboard deck for this years Skateboard Art Challenge. $30 per person- all materials including blank skateboard deck & registration fee for gallery exhibit, a $50 value. Ages 8 and up.

Thursday August 12th- Last day to register your artwork for the Skateboard Art Challenge

Thursday August 19th from 6-8 pm - Skateboard Art Challenge Opening Event at The Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George St. Duxbury, MA

Saturday August 21st 1pm-5pm-Luminate King of the Park- Skateboard competition.
All age divisions. $10.00 suggested donation. All proceeds to benefit renovations of Marshfield Skate Park.

September 20th-Skateboard Art Challenge Ends. Artwork pick up from 10am-4pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts
