From the San Diego Museum of Art website:
“No matter what subjects artists choose, the one subject
that all share is that of themselves, the self portrait. Selfportraits
are not just a reflection of what they look like
but also how the artist interprets themselves and the
world around them. It is perhaps the most personal story
that the artist can tell and make the self-portrait one of
art’s most important subjects.”
All work must contain an image, representation or interpretation
of the artist. Work may be representational or
non-representational. Entry is open to all artists. DAA
membership is not required. Artwork categories include:
Oil & Acrylic, Watercolor, Drawing and Pastel,
Printmaking, Color Photography, Black & White
Photography and Mixed Media. Work must be original,
completed with in the last three years and not previously
exhibited in a DAA show.
Fees & Sales:
A non-refundable entry fee of $5 per piece for current
DAA members and $15 per piece for non-DAA members
will be charged. Membership may be updated at the
time of registration. Artwork need not be listed for sale;
however, if a selling price is listed on the registration
form, the DAA retrains a 40% commission on all artwork
sold in the Bengtz and Cutler Galleries.
Registration:
To be considered for the exhibition, original two-dimensional
artwork containing an image, representation or
interpretation of an Artist Self Portraits must
be hand delivered to the Duxbury Art Association office.
A registration form must be submitted at time of artwork
delivery. All artwork must be properly and securely
framed and ready to hang. No clip-on frames or sawtooth
hangers, please. All works must be ready to hang
including wire- no exceptions!
Should the number of entries exceed our gallery space;
artists will be notified of their status by phone before the
opening reception. Work not accepted can be picked up
during regular office hours:
Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Liability:
All due care will be exercised in handling the works submitted. The
artist is responsible for secure framing and suspension. The DAA will
not be responsible for work left after the pick-up date(s). Artwork
left over 30 days will become the property of the DAA.
