The Duxbury Art Association celebrates its 90th anniversary this August. To honor this milestone, we invite you to participate in our exciting collaborative artwork installation to be unveiled at the Midsummer Show Opening Reception August 10, 2007.
John Singer Sargent, Charles Bittinger and Frank Benson founded the DAA in 1917. In 2007 we are still going strong thanks to artists and patrons of the arts like you. To honor the DAA's milestone birthday we urge you to participate in an exciting collaborative installation that celebrates the artists' commitment to self-expression through the visual arts.
We're asking all artists, young and old, to submit a non-returnable 9"x 9" unframed original representation of their involvement with the arts. The piece will become part of a permanent collection to be displayed and housed by the DAA. For its debut, the work will be revealed at the cocktail reception for our 90th Annual Midsummer Show on August 10 as what we hope to be a truly dynamic statement - hundreds of artists showcasing their individualism while representing the camaraderie and acceptance of the arts community. The art will be displayed in the Bengtz Gallery at the Ellison Center until September 14.
Create your art in any medium you prefer. The only restriction that we have is that the finished piece be no larger than 9”x 9”. Also if you choose a surface thicker or heavier than paper such as wood, clay or masonite, you are required to drill two holes in the upper corners so that we can mount your piece. No mattes, frames or stretched canvas please. Although we always welcome new members, membership is not required.
Come in and register your piece at the Duxbury Art Association office located in the Ellison Center at 64 St. George Street in Duxbury between the hours of 10am and 4pm M-F. Artwork cannot be accepted after July 16th 2007 or request a registration form and mail in your piece accompanied by the form to the Duxbury Art Association P.O. Box 204A, Duxbury, MA 02331 Log on often at www.duxburyart.org to see the progression of art2 and to be inspired by some of the beautiful artwork that’s been contributed. |
