Children’s classes and workshops at the Duxbury Art Association are a great way to add
creativity to your child’s day. We offer classes for children as young as 3 years old and have designed classes and workshops for all of the unique stages of your child’s growth and development. Choose from classes that meet weekly for 6-8 weeks or workshops that meet
just once, either will add color and fun to your child’s life. Art, we need it now more than ever.

We will be working with various art mediums, and exploring and experimenting with literature and music. We’ll start each class with sketching out our work. Let’s use our imaginations to create fun artwork! This will be a positive experience for your child. All materials included. Register early for this fun class, it often sells out! Cartooning

Learn how to make your cartoons come alive. We will create believable superheroes that fly, save the world and have incredible super powers. We will place them in a comic strip to tell your fantastic tale. The practice of storyboarding and beginning animation will be introduced. Students will learn to draw the figure as the basis of their cartoon characters. Dress for mess and all materials provided. Sign up for one or both sessions. Printmaking Plus

Do you want to design & make your own Halloween Costume? Design & Make your own Fashions! Have some great fabric that would look terrific as a new skirt? Bring your machine (we have a few to lend, if needed) and learn how great it feels when someone compliments your clothes & you can say, “Thanks, I made it myself!” No prior sewing experience needed.

Use real tools to make 3-D art. With pliers, wire nails, etc., and using woodworking as well as some traditional materials we will create several exciting projects that will likely have a special place in your home for years to come. Skills with woodworking tools will be encouraged as well as more traditional sculpture techniques in plaster and/or wire. In this beginner level class, you learn the basics of a program that is used by professional photographers everywhere. This is a foundations art class that will give students a start on developing a strong art portfolio. Gallery of Great Pumpkins follows….

Make a mess in our studio! Paint, decorate & embellish your pumpkin entry for the annual Gallery of Great Pumpkins. Lots of fun materials will be available to decorate a pumpkin that YOU bring. All carving must be supervised by parents or guardian. Students over 6 years old can carve using our tools and templates as well as decorative finishes for the younger set. The workshop is $10.00 per pumpkin and will allow you to enter your pumpkin in the Gallery of Great Pumpkins for free!
