Children’s classes and workshops at the Duxbury Art Association are a great way to add
creativity to your child’s day. We offer classes for children as young as 3 years old and have designed classes and workshops for all of the unique stages of your child’s growth and development. Choose from classes that meet weekly for 6-8 weeks or workshops that meet
just once, either will add color and fun to your child’s life. Art, we need it now more than ever.

Winter 2012 Classes
MONDAYS:
Kolorful Kids

Ages 4 1/2 - 6
Mondays: 10:00am - 11:30am OR

We will be working with various art mediums, exploring and experimenting with stories and music. We’ll start each class with sketching out our work. Let’s use our imaginations to create fun artwork! This will be a positive experience for your child. All materials included. Register early for this fun class, it often sells out! Be sure to dress for mess! This class begins AFTER the kindergarten switch and will have options to extend.

Pirates Workshop

Create believable superheroes that fly, save the world and have incredible super powers. The practice of storyboarding and beginning animation will be introduced. Students will learn to draw the figure as the basis of their cartoon characters. Dress for mess and all materials provided. Sign up for one or both sessions. The session at 2:15pm is an Alden Art a la Carte class

Carpentry Sculpture

Use real tools to make 3-D art. With pliers, wire nails, etc., and using woodworking as well as some traditional materials we will create several exciting projects that will likely have a special place in your home for years to come. Skills with woodworking tools will be encouraged as well as more traditional sculpture techniques in plaster and/or wire. Famous sculptures in Art History will be presented and discussed as references. All materials included. Dress for mess.

Fashion Sewing, (DAA’s version of Project Runway!)

Do you want to design & make your own cute fashions? Do you have some great fabric that would look terrific as a new skirt? Bring your machine (we have a few to lend, if needed) and learn how great it feels when someone compliments your clothes & you can say, “Thanks, I made it myself!” No prior sewing experience needed. Check out the awesome wardrobe of clothes that past students created on our facebook page! New and repeat sewers are welcome.

Animal Art

Create fantastic animal art with a wide variety of mediums. Repeat and new students welcome. New projects will be featured. Two dimensional and three dimensional works will be created while learning about real and imagined creatures. Sculpt, paint, and use found objects to create animals and their habitats. Exploring Clay

This class introduces students to all the basic construction methods of pinch, coil, slab, and wheel, as well as enhancing the knowledge of those students who may have more advanced skills. Learn to Paint

Learn the basics of painting with acrylic paints. Each week students will create their own masterpiece while having a fun and creative time doing it! This is a great class for the beginner artist as well as serious art students. All materials provided. Dress for mess.

Paint, Pizza and Personalities….

Friday evenings from 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Join us for a creative ART session in our studios. We’ll have pizza and create new work each week. Students can choose from an assortment of projects and mediums to focus on. This is the perfect class for the student who is interested in art and doing something fun, (and supervised) on a Friday night. This is also a great class to take with friends or to meet new ones! Parents can drop off students and go out to dinner while the young artists create in a safe and supervised environment! A win for everyone! All materials & pizza provided. Dress for mess.
